One month ago we use to have more than 10 keys on our keychains: office, house, car, parent's house, coffee machine, trash bin, … now we only have one left: our bike locker. And we are happy about it!

Ayana and I, we gave up a lot of things during last weeks because we are starting a bike tour across Europe! We are not quite ready and I think we will never be, so at one point we just have to start paddling. We've prepared for weeks, and learned a lot: bike blogs, travel magazines, talking with friends, looking for experiences, … but at the end we will just do it our way: no stress, take it easy, enjoy the present moment, don’t panic and be ready to improvise!

We met 2 years ago at work, sometimes in the train, sometimes biking to work, but we never gave each-other too much importance. At one point we started chit-chatting here and there and after some open air cinema, some car sharing and a concert we proved that there are odds that a half German, half Spanish girl meets a half Romanian, half French guy in Strasbourg and start a lovely adventure. Since the beginning we got each-others well and developed our relationship while living our life in Strasbourg.

After a while, this background idea of quitting our jobs and looking for something different came back to both of us stronger and more obvious. We liked our jobs but somehow it didn’t fit our way of being. It didn’t match our way of seeing things and it didn’t give us the opportunity of fully expressing our-selves. We want to enjoy life for some time, free our minds and become available for whatever opportunity that emerges to us.

In May, in Spain, while being in Ayana’s home town Gijon, we were in one of these moods: sunny day, relaxed, almost bored. We went for a walk and we started talking about our future. In less than an hour a simple plan grew up:

"First let’s still enjoy the summer time in Strasbourg, prepare our trip and leave our jobs peacefully. Then have a humble and sportive trip by bike until Romania to visit Serban’s home country and family. If the weather forecast is by our side, we would like to shake the bikes until Istanbul or even further. By Christmas we should be fed up with the cycling ( or not ), but we will for sure miss our families and friends. A stop at our home towns will warm us up and prepare for more adventures…"

Now, you all wait for the first picture of our bikes or some news of how was the first bike day! Sorry to disappoint you but we are still in a couch or swimming-pool in Lampertheim writing this article. We didn’t leave on the 1st of September as for longtime planned, neither the 2nd as we tried to convince our-selves. Maybe tomorrow is the good day, now-one knows!? We will let you know!
